The Premier League has finally ended. Arsenal has ended in the 8th position. It is better than when Arteta took over the club. But it still is not satisfactory as per Arsenal’s standards. Although the club still has a spot at Europa League Qualification.
Arsenal is going to meet Chelsea in the FA Cup Final. Should they win, they will have secured their place in the Europa League. And that will be very important for Mikel Arteta.
Not only will the Europa League help the club financially but it will also help in attracting new players. And Arsenal is in dire need of that. The club has been suffering defensively and in creating goal-scoring chances.
Arsenal is on 13th in the list of big chances created. Kevin De Bruyne has more than the whole of Arsenal. Surely Arsenal fans would not be pleased with this. And Mikel Arteta will hope for support from the board to change that.
Arsenal is looking at players to improve their squad. Earlier Arteta gave a statement that the club is looking for someone with Premier League experience. And that hinted towards Willian or Grealish and the fans were excited.
But according to the latest news Arsenal might be looking at a youngster to help solve their problems. Sporting Lisbon’s Joelson Fernandes has popped up on the Gunners’ radar.
Joelson Fernandes has had a really good season with Sporting Lisbon. At just 17 years old the player has featured in a lot of games for the club. Fernandes has played in 32 games for the club in all competitions. He was a part of the Under 23 side and was called to the first team after the Restart.
He has 5 goals and 2 assists to his name. Joelson is an exciting prospect. Many people are already naming him the next Cristiano Ronaldo. A young Portuguese kid ready to make the headlines in the Premier League.
According to the Sun, Arsenal is ready to pay the £45 m million price tag for Joelson. And Sporting are also agreeing to this offer. However, it does look a bit far stretched.
Just a week ago there were rumors of Arsenal making a 15 million bid for Joelson. And £45 million seems a little bit too much for a player who has a lot to prove yet. Although there is reported interest from Barcelona and Juventus too.
However, considering Arsenal’s interest in Partey this move looks a bit difficult. Arsenal would have to pay a similar amount for Partey. The club could also opt to make a defensive signing. Or maybe try for Jack Grealish.
Considering Arsenal and their transfer approach it would be very surprising to see this deal coming through. Although Mikel Arteta is all about surprises. He has shown that in his team selection and his game plans. And the prospect of a young Portuguese player coming to the side might be of some excitement.
