Arsenal News: Alexandre Lacazette sends a parting message to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the striker signs for Barcelona

Arsenal News: Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang forged a great friendship in London. Owing to this, the Frenchman sent a parting message post his strike partner’s departure.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was released from his Arsenal contract on the last day of the January transfer window. The striker last featured for the Gunners in December against Everton.

Since then, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had sidelined the striker following a “disciplinary breach”. Owing to this, Arteta had stripped Aubameyang off the captain’s armband and didn’t allow the striker to train with the squad.

The Gabonese striker had reportedly breached disciplinary conduct multiple times. Hence the Arsenal manager took this harsh decision. The Spaniard had vowed not to feature Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the Gunners again. 

What was Alexandre Lacazette’s message?

Lacazette took to social media after Arsenal officially announced the departure of Aubameyang. Having been signed by Arsene Wenger, the duo played a key part under Unai Emery. And since then, they had won over a lot of fans with their partnership. 

Alexandre Lacazette wrote “My bro! Thanks for the last 4 years. My experience in Arsenal would have been different without you! I wish you good luck in your next chapter! See you soon.”

Aubameyang and Lacazette forged a good friendship on and off the field at Arsenal. Their goal celebrations became a staple in the Gunners’ games posts during the Arsene Wenger era. Hence they would surely have a special place in the mind of the supporters. 

Aubameyang takes a shot at Mikel Arteta after signing for Barcelona

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was officially unveiled as a Barcelona player on Thursday. The striker signed as a free agent after terminating his contract with Arsenal on deadline day. 

In the press conference, Aubameyang was asked about Mikel Arteta. He was asked what had happened that led to his departure. For this, the Gabonese striker said that only the Arsenal manager had a problem with him. But he didn’t reveal anything publically. 

Aubameyang said “Mikel Arteta made the decision and I can’t say much more. He wasn’t happy but I stayed very calm! That’s it.” He then concluded by saying “It’s true that there were complicated months. But I think football has these things sometimes.”

Barcelona is currently fighting for a top-four berth in LaLiga. Hence the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would surely help the Blaugrana. As Xavi’s main objective is to get into the Champions League spots for next season. 

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored 92 goals in 163 appearances for the Gunners. To add to this, the striker has also scored 141 goals in 213 appearances for Borussia Dortmund. Hence the Barcelona faithful would certainly be hoping that the striker finds his scoring boots for the club.
