Arsenal news: Alexandre Lacazette signed the contract to join Lyon

Arsenal news: Alexandre Lacazette has been a consistent performer for the Gunners since joining from Lyon in 2017.

The former Lyon striker has played 158 league games for the London-based club thus far, scoring 54 goals. He helped the club to win the FA Community Shield in 2017 and the FA Cup during the 2019-20 season.

Lacazette won the Arsenal Player of the Season in 2018-19 and was also handed the captain’s armband by Mikel Arteta in February this year. However, his current contract at the Emirates Stadium will expire on July 1.

Arsenal have confirmed that the Frenchman will leave the club upon the expiration of his contract. In an official statement, Mikel Arteta said: “Laca has been a fantastic player for us. He’s been a real leader on and off the pitch and has been a very important influence to our younger players.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Alexandre Lacazette has agreed on terms to join his former club Lyon FC. The France international underwent a medical on Wednesday before signing a three-year contract with Les Gones.

Lacazette joined Lyon’s youth academy in 2003. He worked through clubs’ your levels to make his professional debut during the 2009-10 season.

He played 275 games in all competitions during his first spell at Groupama Stadium, scoring 129 goals. Lacazette helped the boyhood club win Trophee des Champions in 2012 and the Coupe de France during the 2011-12 season.

The 31-year old attacker won Ligue 1’s Golden Shoe during the 2014-15 season and was also included in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year on three different occasions whilst at Lyon.

Arsenal in pole position to sign Youri Tielemans

According to DH Net, Arsenal are the front runners to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans. Apart from the Gunners, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are other clubs in the race to sign the midfielder(as per london.football).

The Belgium international is entering the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium. According to Fabrizio Romano, Tielemans will not extend his contract at the club and is likely to push for an exit during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Tielemans joined the Foxes from AS Monaco in the summer transfer window of 2019. He has played 107 league games for the club so far, scoring 15 goals.

The 25-year old midfielder helped the East Midlands club win one FA Cup and one FA Community Shield. He won the Leicester City Player of the Season 2020-21.
