Arsenal News: The Gunners are travelling to Dubai for training. But Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly been left out of the squad that will travel.
Arsenal to travel to Dubai without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
The Gunners’ next Premier League fixture is scheduled against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 11th February 2022. Owing to this, the English club has more than two weeks of preparation.
Hence, the Arsenal squad, along with the coaches, are travelling to Dubai to do some warm weather training in the next few days. But their former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been excluded from the side.
Aubameyang has not featured for Arsenal since he made a substitute appearance in a 2-1 loss to Everton on 6th December 2021. Following this, he was sidelined from playing owing to disciplinary reasons.
The Arsenal number 14 has since also been stripped of the club’s captaincy. And as per reports, Mikel Arteta has not even allowed him to train with the Gunners’ first-team squad.
Things got worse as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang travelled to Cameroon to play at the AFCON tournament. But the Gabonese striker was declared Covid positive on his arrival and was quarantined immediately.
The striker reportedly developed heart lesions following Covid, and he has since returned to London without even playing a single game at AFCON. As per reports, the striker has thankfully recovered from his problem and is now fit to play.
Is this the end of Aubameyang’s relationship with the Gunners?
As per reports, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang could be leaving Arsenal in January. Owing to this, multiple clubs are interested in singing the player. Hence, they are actively monitoring the situation.
Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Rayyan and Al Al-Nassr were the first two clubs who had approached Arsenal for the striker. The two clubs reportedly want Aubameyang on loan and are ready to pay his full salary as well. The striker is the highest earner at Arsenal, earning £350,000 per week at the club.
The Gabonese striker reportedly had discussions with his representatives. Following this, he has decided that he won’t play in Saudi Arabia for now. Instead, the player wants a move to a European club.
A few European clubs are also reportedly interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. These clubs include the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille, AC Milan, and Barcelona, among the other teams.
Arsenal would let Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave for a European club in January. But they know that any club that signs him on loan will not be interested in paying the full salary of the player. Hence, the North London club would have to pay the differential amount. Hence, it has to be seen what Arsenal and Aubameyang decide in the next five days.
