Arsenal News: With just a week left in January, the Gunners have still not completed the signing of a striker. Hence they are still trying to sign either Luka Jovic, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, or Alexander Isak before the transfer period ends.

Mikel Arteta’s side primarily focused on Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window. Owing to this, they had even placed a transfer bid of €60 million for the striker.

But Dusan Vlahovic does not seem very interested in moving to North London. The Serbian instead is eyeing a move to Juventus, hence it looks unlikely that Arsenal will be able to sign him in January.

Arsenal do have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, and Edward Nketiah in their ranks. But the Gabonese striker may himself be heading out in January. Meanwhile, Lacazette and Nketiah’s contracts expire in the summer.

Arsenal have failed to score in their last four games. Owing to this, they have been knocked out of the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup by Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, respectively.

Mikel Arteta’s side had risen to the 4th spot in the Premier League owing to their excellent form in January. But a defeat to Manchester City and a draw against Burnley has dropped them to 6th place in the standings.

Hence, keeping this in mind, Mikel Arteta has made it a priority to sign a striker in the next few days. With Dusan Vlahovic looking unlikely, Arsenal should consider the other available options.

Can the Gunners sign Luka Jovic, Alexander Isak, or Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

Among the three, Luka Jovic looks to be the likeliest player that Arsenal could sign. Real Madrid have themselves approached the Gunners about the Serbian’s services on a loan deal.

As per reports, Real Madrid are ready to offer Luka Jovic on loan until the end of the season. The striker has made 11 substitute appearances in LaLiga and has scored just 1 goal. Hence, signing him could be a major gamble for Arsenal.

The second option that Arsenal has is that of Real Sociedad striker, Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker has reportedly been a long-term target for Arsenal, with the striker having even expressed his interest to play in the Premier League.

Isak scored 17 goals in 34 LaLiga appearances last season. But has only been able to score 4 goals in the first half of the 2021/22 LaLiga season. To add to this, Arsenal would have to pay more than €40m to sign the Swedish striker on a permanent deal.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the final option with Premier League pedigree. The Everton man has just returned from an injury and has scored 3 goals in 6 Premier League appearances this season. The Englishman could cost Arsenal about £50m in transfer fee if they go for him.
