Arsenal news: The Gunners have rejected a chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain attacker Mauro Icardi. The Argentina international has struggled since joining the Parisians permanently from Inter Milan during the summer transfer window of 2020. He has scored just 11 goals in 44 league appearances of far.
Icardi is behind Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the pecking order at the Parc des Princes. He managed to start just 10 Ligue 1 games last term. The 29-year-old attacker is expected to move away from the French capital before the deadline of the current transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano (via Sportskeeda), Paris Saint-Germain offered Arsenal the chance to sign Mauro Icardi. However, the London outfit turned down an opportunity to bring him to the Emirates Stadium due to technical and financial reasons.

The Gunners have lost Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubmayemang in the last two transfer windows. They were desperately looking to bolster their forward line at the start of the transfer window.
The London-based club tracked down several big-name players before eventually signing Gabriel Jesus for £45 million from Manchester City. Jesus has made an excellent start to his Arsenal career, scoring four goals in the Gunners’ pre-season games.
Meanwhile, Icardi is likely to make a return to Seria A. He is still held in high regard in Italy due to spells with Inter Milan and Sampdoria. Icardi has played 219 Seria A games so far, scoring 121 goals.
The Argentina international won 2018’s Serie A Footballer of the Year and was also included in the competition’s Team of the Season twice. According to a report by RMC Sport, Monza have held talks to sign him in recent weeks.
