Arsenal News: Brentford forward Ivan Toney has responded to Arsenal defender Gabriel’s tweet, terming it as “cringey”.
After getting the promotion last season, Brentford handed a shocking 2-0 defeat to the Gunners on the opening matchday of the Premier League.
Then in the aftermath of the game, the Brentford striker took to Twitter and posted a taunting message saying, ‘Nice kick about with the boys.’

Arsenal News: Ivan Toney struck back at the Gunners
After their win against Brentford, last season, Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette tweeted the same words ‘Nice kick about with the boys.’
Now just a few days ago, Arsenal faced Brentford again. This time around with a much better team and at Brentford’s home.
Before the match Arsenal coach Arteta wanted Toney to make another spikey comment. His team though did not needed that and once again defeated Brentford. This time around, with a full domination and a scoreline of 3-0.
Following their win, Arsenal player Gabriel mocked Toney by tweeting the same words which made headline in the English media.
Meanwhile, Toney has been brilliant in recent days and has got his debut national team call-up. The forward who is now right now with the English squad has finally responded to the incident.
He said, “I think once was funny, second time a bit cringe but I bit my tongue.”

Toney’s recent rise
Rising from the academy of Northampton Town, Toney became the youngest player to represent them in 2012. The forward then played three seasons for Northampton and scored twelve goals in sixty appearances.
Toney then signed for Newcastle United. However, the English striker failed to impress in the Magpies shirt and was sent to multiple loan spells at Barnsley, Shrewsbury Town, Scunthorpe United, and Wigan Athletic.
Toney finally signed for Peterborough United in 2018. In the second season with Peterborough, Toney finally got his breakthrough. The forward became the League One top scorer in the 2019-20 season which earned him a contract from Championship side Brentford.
In his first season with Brentford, Toney scored a mesmerizing number of 31 goals as Brentford finally got promoted to the English Premier League.
Things didn’t end here and Toney started brilliantly in the current season. The striker netted 5 goals in 7 appearances and is one of the best forwards in the premier league currently. As a result, Ivan Toney was rewarded by Gareth Southgate with a debut Three Lions call-up and now can feature in the national team soon.
