After a string of heartbreaking defeats at home and away fixtures, Arsenal finally managed to secure 3 points in the English Premier League against Chelsea at The Emirates. The Gunners were under pressure in the wake of the worst start to their campaign since the 1974 season.
After losing 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park, Arsenal invited Chelsea to their den. Right from the word go, the Gunners were the better side and finished the first half with 2 goals. Lacazette converted the penalty into a good goal while Granit Xhaka scored a screamer in the 44th minute.
Arsenal scored another goal in the form of teenager Bukayo Saka. With plenty of zeal and optimism, they were looking to score a few more but settled for 3 goals.
On the other hand, Chelsea tried their best to claw their way back into the game. But, it was too late. Frank Lampard’s team scored a consolation goal in the form of Tammy Abraham.

A win against the rivals Chelsea might not have helped them climb positions in the table but it would surely give them enough confidence to compete well in the upcoming games.
Arsenal owner Kroenke gives Arteta some instructions
While the majority of the fans and pundits reckon that Arteta’s day at Arsenal are just numbered, the Arsenal board thinks otherwise. Earlier, when Arsenal was facing the heat for not winning games in the ongoing season, the board added that they have full faith in Mikel Arteta.
The board further added saying that the Spaniard is not under pressure. This goes to show that Arteta is part of the long term project. The transition stage is taking some time but it is bound to give good results over time.
Arteta knows exactly what needs to be done to restore pride at the club. Meanwhile, Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has given Arteta some strict restrictions ahead of the winter transfer window.
The owner echoed that the manager needs to offload some players before any player can arrive in the upcoming transfer window. It is certain the Arsenal board will back the manager in the transfer window.
As per the reports and media outlets, Arsenal are in the hunt for a new creative midfielder. In order to sign a player, Arteta needs to sell the players first and that’s the command he received from Kroenke.
Arsenal squad too big at the moment
As per the Athletic, there are issues that the current squad is massive for now. The report added that the club will require trimming in January. The 19-year-old William Saliba will likely leave the club on loan.
Moreover, Ozil’s contract is less than 12 months away from expiring. Currently, he is not part of Arteta’s plans either. He may be sold in January at least for a minimal fee. The likes of Sokratis, David Luiz and Mustafi are out of contract and any of them could leave the club soon.
