Emery speaks out on Torreira and Laca-Auba partnership after victory over Fulham

After the splendid performance against the Fulham, Unai Emery is of the opinion that Lucas Torreira is full of confidence now and that he can play at the “best level” for the club.

The 23-year-old had played exceptionally well for Arsenal in their 5-1 victory against Fulham at Craven Cottage yesterday.

Torreira has started all of the last three matches and grown into an increasingly important player for Emery, adding an extra dimension to Arsenal’s midfield. And saluting his recent form, Emery told reporters in his post-match press conference that Torreira has the weapons to remain a crucial part of his starting line-up as he looks to return the north London club to the Champions League and eventually consistent title contention.

Emery said: “He’s very young, it’s his first season here at this level but he was playing in Italy which is a very hard competition also.”

“He is playing also with his national team, against big teams. And here, I think with his process he’s doing very well. The first is his humility to work every day, to listen, to learn.”

“He is playing today in the middle, then [on the] right in the 4-4-2 and his performance is the same. I think his career is just starting and we want to do it with him, he can do it with us, giving us and giving him the best performances at the best level.”

Lacazette and Aubameyang continued their impressive form in front of goal with their partnership continuing to blossom even in only a brief cameo – with the latter on the bench until the 67th minute.

On his potent strike-force, Emery added: “It is one process, to know better after training, after every match, after every decision, how we are better on the pitch, between the players, in our tactical system and impose our timing on the pitch in possession with the ball.
