Mikel Arteta will be delighted as Arsenal are back to their winning ways. It has been a kind of topsy turvy season for Arsenal. The club hasn’t been able to live up to their full potential. But they are slowly trying to turn the tide in their favor. The Gunners now have 2 back to back victories in the Premier League.
They lost 1-0 to Southampton which led to a FA Cup exit. However, the Gunners had their revenge as they defeated the Saints 3-1 in their last fixture in the Premier League.
Arsenal are at the 9th place in the league level with Chelsea on points who are at 8th. Mikel Arteta was in a similar situation as Lampard, the only difference might be that he didn’t go on a summer spending spree.
Arsenal have completed the signing of Martin Odegaard on a season-long loan. That surely ought to lift the spirits in the camp as he is a very talented player. Nicolas Pepe too broke his goalless run and the club will hope he can improve his form.
There is a feeling that things might be settling down for the North London club. They are slowly developing a mix of players who are playing regularly for the club.
A lot of credit also goes to some leaders who have been very vocal in the Arsenal camp. Xhaka is one of them and Arsenal finally might get to see the best out of him.
Granit Xhaka emerging as a leader for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal:
Granit Xhaka joined Arsenal in 2016 but he hasn’t really been able to live up to his potential. Be it a combination of injuries of change in managerial schemes, he just hasn’t been able to cement his place in the team.
But that’s changing now. After a slow start to the season, Xhaka looks to have picked up his game and is playing a key role in Arsenal’s midfield. He acts as a cushion for the defense and it’s like you can see the tenacity in his game now.
As per the Athletic, in Arsenal’s last game against Southampton, he was overheard discussing tactics with Cedric and explaining the game plan to him. Cedric later went to play a part in both the goals for the club.
Xhaka was also full of praise for Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka who has been great form for the Gunners this season. Aubameyang and Lacazette haven’t really delivered this season but Saka has been one bright spot for the Gunners.
The upcoming weeks will be very crucial for the Gunners. They are now out of the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, so the focus should be on the Premier League and the Europa League.
Arsenal have a tough fixture against Manchester United are 2nd in the table. Although United are coming off a poor display against Sheffield and Arsenal could capitalize on that. If Arsenal could come up with the win it would be a really big result for the club.
