Arsenal tipped to seal Partey and another defensive midfielder

Arsenal is close on extending Ceballos’ loan for next season. Former player tips Gunners to sign two midfilders.

Arsenal has found new reasons to celebrate after ages actually. The monotony of the “Old Architect”, followed by doldrum affairs by another Spanish manager. Now they have a protégé of the same “Old Architect” and things are looking better.

Mikel Arteta has been trying to manage entries and exits with the handful of transfer budget that the board has presented him with. As a result, a few ‘Emery’s guests’ have been shown the door – including Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.

However, post all exits, the team has kept its target set for fresh legs. And as the transfer window progresses, pundits have advised Arteta to continue pursuit for Thomas Partey, irrespective of any fresh signings.

Arsenal showing good signs of business

The London-based club may have earned diatribes after 55 positions were made redundant. But fans are can be a fugacious lot. They forget job cuts, hit the economy, and pandemic with silverware – at least try to forget. Whatever the truth is, the club and fans look optimistic about future endeavors.

This summer, Arteta has looked into the defense particularly. They have made the loan spells of Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari permanent. Additionally, they have signed Lille center-back Gabriel dos Santos Magalhães

The 22-year-old has been instrumental for the Ligue 1 side and has a performance graph better than Thiago Silva and Raphael Varane, as per the passes in the final third are concerned. The Brazilian arrived at Emirates for £27 million, with the deal finalized today.

Thomas Partey: The constant priority

Real Madrid confirmed that Dani Ceballos will be back at Arsenal for another loan spell. This almost continued Arteta’s plan to use Xhaka and Ceballos to get hold of a solid midfield partnership. However, the passes in the final third may need another pivot.

That is where the Ghanaian comes in. The holding midfielder has played 2551 minutes last season for Simeone’s side and played a significant part in knocking European champions out of the competition. As a result, Arteta wants him in his team, who has a £45.6 million release clause in his contract. (source:FootyStats)

The transfer though isn’t free of hindrances. Arsenal did bid for the midfielder only to be rejected. Though the Spaniard wants him, he does not want to spend that much. Simeone, however, remains stubborn on the price – pay up or leave.

What did Campbell say?

Former Arsenal Striker Kevin Campbell advised the Gunners must rope in Dani Ceballos as well as a move for Thomas Partey as well as Roma’s Diawara. He feels they need a “rock” – and Partey looks like their panacea, he told Stadium Astro.

He feels when Arsenal will play tight weeks next season, they will need more legs, more resilience to last such matches. Campbell believes Gabriel will play a key role next season. “With Saliba and Gabriel, Arsenal can play a two-v-two at the back”, he said.

Talking about firepower, he said Willian will play a crucial role in shaping their defense. Talking about preferences, he said, personally would want both Coutinho and Aouar at Emirates to enforce the team’s spine. “If they could do Coutinho business, would I take Coutinho? Oh, 100 percent I would”, Campbell added.
