The Gunners are desperate to add more strength to it’s squad and believe this player can solve their defensive issues.
It’s no secret that Unai Emery wants a creative midfielder, a centre back and a left winger. The Spaniard has done an impressive job but in order to finish top 4, he needs defensive enforcement. Having been linked with Gary Cahil. Nicolas Pepe and Denis Suarez, it seems Arsenal are willing to help Unai in it’s a quest to finish in top 4. It seems Arsenal will be preparing a bid for this Real Madrid star.
Arsenal have made €16m (£14m) bid for Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, according to reports in Spain. The Costa Rican goalkeeper, despite helping his side win a La Liga title and three Champions Leagues in the last three seasons, found himself replaced in the summer as Madrid swooped in to sign Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea. Courtois was voted as the best goalkeeper at the World Cup and despite the success that Madrid had with Navas, they decided to make a change. As such, the 32-year-old is said to be considering his options and Arsenal and Roma are said to be interested in him.
Gunners have made an offer for the veteran ‘keeper, despite having both Bernd Leno and Petr Cech on the books. It could be that Unai Emery is willing to let Cech leave, hence he needs another option as it’s highly unlikely that the Spanish manager is looking to discard Leno already having signed him in the summer. The porous defense of Arsenal this season has led to Unai Emery wanting to improve it’s defense. Bernd Leno has struggled to adapt to life in north London. Arsenal have already shipped 31 goals in just 21 matches and believe Navas’s arrival will give a much need competition to Leno.
Author’s Take:
It doesn’t seem Navas will be willing to leave Madrid in January. He previously stated his desire to stay in Madrid as he will be a father in February. Given Arsenal’s depth in the goalkeeping department, it would be an irrational move to go for a goalkeeper instead of a centre back or left back.
