Is Arsenal making a wise decision by luring the Roma winger to Emirates?
For the upcoming transfer window, Arsenal has made AS Roma winger Cengiz Under 21, their number one target as per the recent reports. The reports have backed the claim as well as stated that the Gunners will find it very difficult to lure the Turkish prospect to the Emirates Stadium at the end of this campaign.
The Reports also disclosed the fact that the North London outfit will have a transfer war chest of £40m for the Roma youngster, but that figure might increase, if Arsenal manages to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.
Cengiz Under has been in a noble form for Roma this season even though he is currently out due to some muscular problems. The 21-year-old wing Turkish International has made a total of 25 appearances for the Italian giants this term, finding the back of the net on six occasions while providing nine assists in various multiple competitions. He has also become the youngest Turkish player ever to score in the Champions League
The wing wizard’s current contract with AS Roma runs out in the summer of 2022, so the Serie A giants will be under no pressure to sell him this summer. Hence Arsenal would need to find a way to convince Roma into doing business by putting in a lucrative offer for the youngster this summer.
Under possess the qualities of a splendid player. He boasts blistering pace and can make penetrative runs with the ball behind the opposition defence. He can score himself or help facilitate plays for others around him. His unselfish nature and incredible talents make him one of the most exciting players of Claudio Ranieri’s team. However, the Turkish prospect needs to improve his finishing if he wants to prove himself consistently at the highest level.
Furthermore, Under is a natural winger who could provide width down the wide areas for Unai Emery’s side which could allow players such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette to be more productive inside the opposition penalty box. He has all the talents in his locker to play an integral part for his country’s senior team in the coming years.
The former Bucaspor player has represented his nation, Turkey on 17 international matches while scoring four goals for them so far. There is no doubt that it would be a wise move for the Gunners to bring him to North London next summer as long as Under can overcome his recent injury concerns.
The Turkish wonderkid can also operate in multiple positions across the frontline which makes him an ideal fit for the Gunners.
