Though he is focusing on his current club Wolfsburg for this time, he will be open to a move to Arsenal. Wind was a very promising young striker at FC Copenhagen. He became the top scorer for FCK’s U17 in the U17 league in 2015–16 with 28 goals out of 24 games.
The striker signed a professional contract with FC Copenhagen senior team on his nineteenth birthday in 2018. He made his debut against Atletico Madrid on 22nd February. He scored his first professional goal in his club’s 2–1 Superliga win against AaB on the 18th of April.
The Danish striker scored 36 goals out of 88 matches. Brentford showed interest in signing him for his brilliant display. But nothing materialised.
Arsenal Transfer News: Wind’s Move to Wolfsburg
Wind joined Wolfsburg from FC Copenhagen for £10 million to replace Wout Weghorst in the winter transfer window. The striker has scored five goals in 16 appearances for the Bundesliga club.
The 23-year-old has also netted five goals in his 15 games for Denmark national team. Later this year, he is set to feature in Qatar World Cup. Denmark has been drawn into Group D with champion France, Australia, and Tunisia.
In an interview with Bulinews.com, he talked about his World Cup draw as he said: “I think our draw is fine. France is one of the best national teams in the world, of course, but we’ve shown in the past that we can beat them. Tunisia and Australia are both teams we should be able to win against, so I think we should have a good chance of proceeding from the group stages, and then we’ll see what happens from there.”
He also added about his chance of appearing in the World Cup squad after his return: “I’m confident that I will recover from my injury in time for the World Cup, and it would be a dream come true for me to get called up.”
His “Favourite Club” Arsenal
In this interview, he also revealed his “favourite club” Arsenal. He would like to play for them in the future. The striker added in his interview: “If we look into the future, Arsenal would be a dream destination for me, as it has always been my favourite club. In general, I think the Premier League is the best league in the world, and it would be exciting to play there.”
But Wolfsburg striker is currently injured and focuses on making a great comeback from his hamstring injury. It has been a difficult start to the season for him. He talked about his time at the German club: “I’m doing well here in Wolfsburg, it’s a good club for me, and the Bundesliga is a great league to play in.”
Arsenal Transfer News: Do They Need a Striker?
The Gunners have spent £45 million on Gabriel Jesus this summer, but they are wanting to add a new forward. So, many players are under Arsenal’s radar.
J. Wind is around 6’3″ tall and an aerially strong striker. He can offer the Gunners a pure Number 9 role. Other than this, he can link up with other forwards to provide passes. He sometimes prefers a free role and also plays as an attacking midfielder if the situation needs.
Wind needs to return to his game with great form so that he can make his dream move to his dream club.
