Arsenal Transfer News: The Gunners are expected to sign at least one striker in the summer. Hence, Mikel Arteta has been urged to sign Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak as the striker “fits the bill”.
The Gunners let their former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave in the January transfer window. The Gabonese striker was sidelined from the squad after a “disciplinary breach” owing to which he was not allowed to play for the club.
This left only Alexandre Lacazette and Edward Nketiah as the possible striker options post the January transfer window. But both the players could be leaving in the summer as well.
Lacazette and Nketiah’s contracts are set to expire at the end of the 2021/22 season. But there has been no news of a new contract being offered by the Gunners. Owing to this, they are expected to leave the club as free agents in June.
Arsenal Transfer News: Mikel Arteta urged to sign Alexander IsakÂ

As per the Mirror, Arsenal has been linked with Alexander Isak for a long time. But former Gunners forward Jeremy Aliadiere has now reportedly urged Mikel Arteta to sign the striker as “he fits the bill”.Â
Jeremy Aliadiere said Isak is still young and has a lot of energy. I think in that team with a manager like Arteta, who’s still very young, you wouldn’t want very experienced players that might have a bit of an ego.”
The former Arsenal striker then added that Alexander Isak is a young player who has already proved his worth at Real Sociedad. Hence he concluded by saying that he felt the Swedish forward would be the best choice for the Gunners.
The Gunners have been scouting Alexander Isak themselves for a few months now. Arsenal was linked with Isak after their bid for Dusan Vlahovic fell through in January. But Real Sociedad reportedly didn’t want their striker to leave mid-season.
Alexander Isak burst onto the scene after scoring 17 goals and providing 2 assists in 34 LaLiga games in the 2020/21 season. The Swedish striker then backed his performances in the Euro tournament in the summer of 2021.
The Swedish striker has not been able to replicate the same form in 2021/22. Isak has scored just 4 goals and 2 assists in 22 LaLiga games this season.
Who will the Gunners sign in the summer?
As per reports, Arsenal is looking to make drastic changes in their forward line in the summer. Hence, it is being said that Mikel Arteta could add as many as three major signings to their forward line.Â
Alexander Isak could be a good signing for the Gunners given that the 22-year old fits Mikel Arteta’s style of play. Hence, the transfer could eventually come down to how much fee Real Sociedad demand to let their striker leave in the summer.
