Arsenal wonder kids who have gone for cheap and are now worth millions

Ismael Bennacer, Serge Gnabry, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, Donyell Malen are the few names who were expected to become big names at Arsenal. But before reaching the apex of their career, they departed from the club due to certain reasons with the minimal transfer fee. It seems another player who can leave Arsenal to strengthen the checkbook of the club is striker Folarin Balogun.

Arsenal is widely known for its huge academy and its academy players. The club has a custom of raising and building up young talents into first-team stars. The academy players, turning into starlets first came into the spotlight under Arsene Wenger. When players like Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Cesc Fabregas, and Kieran Gibbs became regular first-team players under Wenger.

However, Arsenal’s custom of nurturing their academy players has somewhat changed. Lately, The North Londoners are using their checkbook to bring polished talents with the likes of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazatte, and Bernd Leno.

There have been players like Matteo Guendouzi who has arrived and has also shown glimpses of his skills and potential in the first team. On the other hand players like Bukayo Saka have also taken the spotlight in the previous campaign of Arsenal.

Now that under Mikel Arteta tutelage Arsenal is looking to invest in the talent hunting of few more players. Gunners are also likely to bring some players from the ranks of the academy. But it seems the highly-rated academy striker Folarin Balogun is not a part of the future plans. The Athletic reported that the 18-year-old is reluctant to sign a new deal with the club. Moreover he isis going to leave the Emirates in the next transfer window.

Brentford has expressed their interest in signing the young striker back in January. The club is known to offer a £5million but Arsenal has turned down the bid in order to keep tie him down with another contract.

The Gunners have already missed four of their exciting young talents in the last four campaigns. Moreover, it seems that Folarin Balogun has already joined the list of players with his contract expiring in June.

Arsenal players who left for cheap

Serge Gnabry, Ismael Bennacer, Donyell Malen, and Jeff Reine-Adelaide.

1. Ismael Bennacer (AC Milan)

The expectations were very high when Ismael Bennacer joined Arsenal in 2015. The midfielder couldn’t get much of the playtime and has only appeared once for Gunners. The youngster left the Gunners in search of regular game time and joined Empoli permanently for two years.

Even though arsenal inserted the buyback clause. But AC Milan came forward and took away the advantage by paying £14.5million for the Algeria international last summer. Earlier, the Ligue 1 side PSG was looking to offer him a deal but Milan is not accepting any offer for him.

2. Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich)

Once he was stated not good enough for West Bromich Albion. However, his career has taken off like a Rockey when in the 2018/19 campaign. He was named Bayern Munich’s player of the season in a title-winning campaign. The young player has also racked up goals and registering 13 assists in 41 appearances.

Arsene Wenger handed him a premier league debut. But the knee injury hampered his growth and Gnabry was not in Arsenal’s plan. After a miserable loan spell at the Hawthorns. The player started rebuilding his performance at Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim. Gnabry has joined Bayern Munich with both hands.

3. Jeff Reine-Adelaide

Adelaide moves to Arsenal in 2015 however failed to make a great impact and was loaned to Angers. At 22 he looks like another former Arsenal player with a bright future. He has signed a new deal with Lyon for £23million and has shown great signs of his potential.

4. Donyell Malen (PSV Eindhoven)

Donyell Malen rejected a bid from Arsenal three years ago and joined PSV Eindhoven. He might be thanking himself for a greater step towards his career that earned him get a prolific form. In January he sustained a season end knee journey. That sidelined him to season end January.
