Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil could be leaving his current North London club Arsenal as reports claim that the Gunners are still looking to tie the German down to a new contract that would extend the former Madrid Ace’s stay at the club beyond 2018. However, Ozil himself is reportedly not interested to extend his contract and is more than interested in a return to his old club Real Madrid.
The Gunners had a paid a club record fee of £42.5m to buy the 27 year old German from Los Blancos in 2013. The Arsenal number 11’s state of mind however is different from since he first joined and new contract takes are being stalled repeatedly in recent weeks.
Wenger had said back in April that there was no rush over getting a new deal for both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Yet, as the summer draws to a close with the new Premier League season also quickly approaching, no solid confirmation had been given to whether The Gunner’s will be able to hold on to The German and even maybe the Chilean.
According to a report from SportBild, The former Madrid man would be ‘immediately ready’ to head back to Los Blancos, with the German publication citing a ‘heart-association’ with the reigning European champions.
It is suggested that Ozil has greater ambitions and that his comfort at the Emirates may not be enough to fulfill his ambitions to win titles and he could very well be looking for a transfer from the North London side.
Arsenal have recently broken their trophy drought after the World Cup winner had joined the club, securing the FA Cup in his very first season and again the following year. However, Arsenal are still no closer to challenging for neither the Premier League or Champions League.
