Arsene Wenger has done it once again. While some of his rivals are busy signing players, the French manager has dropped his interest in one of his summer targets. The Gunners have now ended their long-term interest in Lyon’s 25 year old France international Alexandre Lacazette, as per reports coming in now. After being snubbed by Jamie Vardy and not pushing through a deal for Alvaro Morata and a few other names, this will come as a major set-back to the fans, who are still waiting for the French manager to sign additional options up front.

Lacazette has been impressive in Ligue 1 last term, with a tally of 23 goals in 43 appearances to his name, which has helped his side finish second behind champions Paris Saint-Germain.

He has been in great form in recent times and has been linked with a host of clubs across European, with quite a few clubs from England trying to sign him as well.

West Ham were said to be quite keen on acquiring the player’s services as well, though their bids were dismissed long ago and now with a £42m price-tag put on the player, the north Londoners have eventually given up as well, as per French outlet Get French Football News.

It is well known that Wenger does not like to spend big on a single player, which has now been the case with the Lacazette deal as well, though he clearly knows that he needs more quality strikers at the Emirates, as soon as possible.
This could only be a sign now suggesting that the Londoners will turn their complete attention towards bringing Argentine international Gonzalo Higuain to England rather from Serie A giants Napoli, as they look to strengthen their squad.
