Arsenal’s boss is supposed to bring back the old tradition of winning games for Gunners.
Mikel Arteta reached North London in December following the sacking of Spanish manager Unai Emery. The situation was worse enough at that time. Since the departure of the ‘Professor’ Arsene Wenger, Emirates was disturbed. They were kicked out of ‘big six’ from the top of the table and missed the major competition in Europe.
Meanwhile, the critics of the game now prescribe the tips for Arteta to follow Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. In recruiting the management staff, Klopp got some appreciation recently. The Reds squad has got more backroom staffs and it is influencing the game plans of Anfield. It is this trend that Arteta should follow. A boss isn’t enough for a group of talented ballers. Sometimes the personal relations and suggestions will affect the total pace of the team.
Arteta was a part of Manchester City’s transformation job under Pep Guardiola. He knows how the total football works in a squad. Managing staff played a significant role in Man City’s title run.
Post Wenger Era
Arsene Wenger was the soul of Gunners with the longest managing record of 22 years. The Frenchmen took charge in 1996 at Emirates and ended his coaching career in 2018. The Wenger era of Gunners was grateful with 17 titles including 3 league victories. He created his own playing culture in North London and Gunners were adapted to it for a long time. They stuck to the silent strategy of Wenger and the criticisms were too gentle.
After Wenger left the job, two Spaniards took the charge of Gunners. Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta. Emery’s reign witnessed the after-effects of Wenger’s gap. He criticized a lot for the downfall of the performance and Pep’s assistant took the charge after one month. He also struggled to fix a starting point for the shattered conditions of Emirates and he is getting the rhythm slowly.
Meanwhile, 38-year-old Spaniard got a contract until 2023. He is still in the phase of testing trials. He hadn’t found a safe zone for the managing future with Gunners. Even though he has given more time to take the pace. The offering of more time seems to be a good sign for Arteta. Because he convinced the management that he can bring the change by the course of time.
“I believe there is a culture in the way to play football at Arsenal that I want to be respected. And I hope Mikel can get that back”, Arsene Wenger commented on Arteta. (Express)
Mikel Arteta is preferring 4-3-2-1 formation with Lacazette or Aubameyang as the center-forward. Mesut Ozil is a key man in the midfield following the tradition. Arsenal is now 9th in the league table. They are playing the second-tier European campaign Europa League which is less preferable for top sides of Europe.
Also, the major challenge is maintaining the top six spots in the league table. They were targeting the Champions league through Europa. But Greek giants Olympiacos blocked the run of Gunners and knocked them out of the tournament in the round of 32.
Now, Arteta is proposing a rejuvenation plan for Arsenal. The upcoming transfer window is already packed with Arsenal’s targets and players. The exit of a few major players in the upcoming challenge for the boss. He should find the proper replacements for them especially in the attacking department. He has got time and the club is not expecting any short term success.
