AS Roma showing interest in signing Premier League striker

Serie A side AS Roma is keen to secure the services of Premier League striker. The Italian club might need an experienced forward in their lineup with their star striker expected to leave. Jose Mourinho is looking to sign a familiar name ahead of the new season.

The Portuguese manager will coach Roma this season after his contract was terminated from Spurs last season. Former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is currently taking charge as manager of Tottenham Hotspur. However, Spurs are still in a critical situation with Harry Kane’s rumor about leaving the club in the summer.

While Jose Mourinho was sent off in a recent club-friendly game for storming into the field due to the referee’s decision. The friendly was against Real Betis and the Italian side had just eight players at the stroke of 90 minutes. Roma fans are expecting a successful season this time under a manager like Jose Mourinho.

Roma’s senior striker Edin Dzeko might soon join fellow Serie A side Inter Milan this summer. The talks are happening between the Bosnia striker and Inter Milan. While Inter’s Romelu Lukaku is all set to join London side, Chelsea, for a whopping fee of around €115 million.

Roma might need experience in their attack, especially with Dzeko leaving the club. Mourinho is looking to bring in proven forwards from Premier League this summer. However, Roma will be looking for a cheaper option considering the current financial situation of the club.

The Italian side was also interested in bringing in Granit Xhaka from Arsenal earlier this summer. However, the Swiss international might stay with Arsenal this season and sign a long-term contract with the Premier League side. In this case, Steven Nzonzi might stay with Roma this season.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Roma is looking to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal to replace Dzeko. Former Manchester City striker is close to securing a deal with Inter Milan from Roma. This leaves Roma in the market in search of a replacement for the Bosnian forward.

Moreover, Roma is also keeping close tabs on Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham. The striker is leaving the club as Lukaku is arriving at the club for a big fee. While there are also several big interests for the English striker. Aston Villa and Atalanta are also showing good interest in signing Tammy Abraham.

But Lacazette would be a better signing for Jose, who has good experience on his shoulders. Moreover, the French forward hasn’t had amazing seasons with the Gunners since joining the club in 2017. Lacazette could be a successful striker in Serie A, considering the competition and quality with Premier League.

Arrival of Lacazette will help Borja Mayoral:

Former Lyon striker couldn’t make a big name for himself at the club. Lacazette’s contract comes to an end next summer. This opens the door for the French striker’s exit from the Emirates this summer. Arsenal would like to sell the striker this summer and raise funds, rather than sending him out for free next season.

Aubameyang and Folarin Balogun will be the two forwards for Arsenal in the upcoming season. We might see a new forward in the Gunners’ attack if Lacazette leaves the club this term. Aubameyang has also been in off-colors in recent times, which is a worry and Arsenal needs an upgrade in that area.

Lacazette can form a good partnership with Real Madrid forward Borja Mayoral at Roma. With Pedri on the wings, Lacazette can play a vital role inside the box for Roma. However, it’s up to Mikel Arteta and Edu to make their final decision on Lacazette’s future at the London club.
