AS Roma transfer news: Marseille is close to signing midfielder Jordan Veretout from AS Roma.
Veretout has been a consistent performer for the Rome outfit since joining from Fiorentina in 2019. He played 98 league games for the Giallorossi so far, scoring 20 goals.
The 29-year-old midfielder was a key member of Roma’s squad that lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League last season. He is also a full France international and has represented his nation five times since making his debut in September last year.
Veretout’s current contract at the Stadio Olimpico will run until 2014. However, he fell out with Jose Mourinho during the second half of last season and is expected to leave the club this transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, AS Roma have accepted a bid from Marseille to sell Jordan Veretout.
The Rome outfit will receive €11 million plus add-ons for the midfielder. The France international will undergo medicals in the coming hours. Veretout’s departure will make room for Gini Wijnaldum in the Roma midfield, who is close to joining the Giallorossi.
Marseille have enjoyed an excellent transfer window under Igor Tudor so far. They have already signed Pau Lopez, Matteo Guendouzi, Luis Suarez, Cengiz Under, Arkadiusz Milik, Jonathan Clauss, Isaak Toure, Chancel Mbemba, Nuno Tavares and Ruben Blanco so far this window. They are also close to signing Alexis Sanchez on a Bosman deal.
What will Jordan Vertout bring to Marseille?
Veretout is an industrious midfielder who is comfortable playing anywhere across the midfielder. His key strengths are his passing skills and vision, along with his free-kick-taking ability.
He played 36 league games last season, scoring four goals and assisting eight more. According to WhoScored, Veretout averaged 0.9 tackles, 1.5 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 in Serie A last term. Apart from that, he also completed 88.4 per cent of his attempted passes in the league.
AS Roma linked with Victor Lindelof
According to Forza Italia, AS Roma are plotting a move for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof.

The Sweden international joined the Red Devils in 2017 while Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club. He could reunite with the Portuguese manager at the Stadio Olimpico next season.
Lindelof has played 139 league games for the Manchester-based club so far, scoring three goals. He is more or less the Red Devils’ fourth-choice centre-back behind Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, and Lisandro Martinez.
