Ashish Nehra makes a highly controversial statement on MS Dhoni’s World Cup future

The former Indian pacer also gave his statement about the former skipper’s position in the squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni has been the most talked topic in the recent past and we are all aware of the reason. From being one of the most consistent performers with the willow, from the one who used to stay on the crease till the very end to ensure that the team went over the line irrespective of the conditions they are in, MSD has had a steady downfall from his past glory.

He has led the team to taste the victory of two World cups as the captain, ever since Kapil Dev’s gift to the entire nation in 1983. His batting created a buzz amongst the entire crowd as he showered boundaries all around the field with utmost perfection.

However the same crowd has taken it upon themselves to lash out at his poor performance which has been continuing lately. Starting from the fans to the former cricketers of the cricket fraternity, each one of them has given a statement regarding Dhoni. His dismal performance has invited a lot of talks from all over. His failure to deliver according to his potential was witnessed in the series against England , Asia Cup and was also extended to the ongoing series against the Windies.

While some were in absolute opposition to his inclusion in the team and lashed comments regarding his performance, there were also some who still believe that cricket has yet not died in him with age. Of the numerous people who fall under the category of the latter, former Indian pacer, Ashish Nehra is one of them.

Nehera had recently issued a statement regarding Dhoni’s future in the upcoming World Cup. He backed him despite his lost form and said that it’s not natural for a cricketer to be in commanding form all the time and there are certain phases where things don’t go the way they are expected to be. He recollected Dhoni’s contributions to the team in the past both as a captain and as a player and questioned the haters’ mindset for not acknowledging them.

Nehra marks Dhoni irreplaceable at the moment considering the fact that whatever he does is applauded in loads by all and the past times are a testimony to that too.

Everything MS Dhoni does becomes a news. So you know, we should leave him aside. Yes, there is Rishabh Pant, there is Dinesh Karthik, who has done reasonably well, but MS Dhoni is MS Dhoni. Nobody comes close to him.”

Nehera further added that Dhoni’s presence in the side helps youngsters to improve their performance on the field as he has been quite instrumental in giving useful tips to groom them perfectly and play international cricket maturely on debuts. He also plays a key role in making decisions at crucial times and assist the current captain, Virat Kohli in the same. Stating all such positives about the legendary captain, Nehera backed him up that he would definitely come back strong by working hard in the upcoming world cup and silencing the critics with his willow.

“MS Dhoni is a great help to the youngsters, to Chahal, to Kuldeep, and even to Jasprit Bumrah. Most importantly he helps Virat Kohli in the decision makingAlthough he had a bad Asia Cup and this series, MS Dhoni knows what he is doing. He still have two full months in hand, he will work hard and come back stronger ahead of the World Cup.”
