On August 2, the highly awaited schedule for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 was released by the Asian Cricket Council. The major event is scheduled to begin on August 27. Additionally, September 11 will be the occasion of the tournament’s grand finale. The competition will follow the T20 format.

Sri Lanka is hosting the grand event in the UAE. India, the event’s defending champion, will face Pakistan in a tense match to open their Asia Cup campaign. On August 28, the match will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Afghanistan and Sri Lanka will play in the tournament’s opening match on August 27. Furthermore, six teams will compete in the main competition. Two groups of three teams each will be formed from the teams.

For the sixth and final berth in the Asia Cup 2022, 4 teams will compete in a qualifier. UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, and Hong Kong will clash for the remaining spot in Group A. Meanwhile, it should be noted that Pakistan and the Indian cricket team are in Group A.

Last Tuesday everyone saw the unveiling of Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022. The event will be held in the United Arab Emirates from August 27 to September 11.

With 13 each, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh have the most second appearances in the Asia Cup. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, have featured in most Asia Cups with 14 appearances. These teams, along with Pakistan, are undoubtedly the backbone of Asian cricket. Nevertheless, each of these teams is significant in their own right.

Making their first appearance in 1984, Pakistan have won 2 titles out of the 13 in which they have featured. Furthermore, they have finished as the runner-up on two occasions as well.

Pakistan has played 45 Asia Cup matches in the ODI format so far. With 26 wins and 18 defeats, they have a decent win rate of 59.09. Speaking in the T20I format, they have played 4, winning and losing on 2 occasions respectively. They will also be aiming to improve their record in the event.

The Exclusion of Shoaib Malik From the Squad Has Puzzled Aaqib Javed
