The former Team India head coach added that India’s bowling line-up wasn’t up to the mark in the ongoing edition of the Asia Cup in the UAE.

He highlighted that a veteran fast bowler like Mohammed Shami should have been in the squad. Perhaps, he would have provided crucial breakthroughs in clutch moments.

Talking about Shami’s exclusion from the Indian squad, Shastri said he was totally surprised that the team management overlooked the pacer.

“I am completely amazed to see how Mohammed Shami has been sidelined by the Indian team management & selectors,” the former India head coach added.

“The Indian bowling hasn’t looked that effective in this year’s Asia Cup. A veteran like Shami should have certainly made it to the squad,” he said while talking on Star.
