According to Reports, Aston Villa is ready to lock horns with Arsenal for the signature of Emiliano Buendia. Both clubs are looking to sign some quality players to challenge for Europe in the upcoming season.
Buendia has been at Carrow Road for the last 3 seasons and is in the form of his life. The Argentina national team also invited the 24-year-old last week after a stunning season in the Championship.
Norwich City has set a £40 million price tag on the attacking midfielder and would let him leave if the valuation is met. Though they will not be happy to see the player who led them to promotion leave and would like him to stay.
WHY DO ARSENAL AND ASTON VILLA WANT BUENDIA?
For the first time in 25 years, Arsenal failed to qualify for Europe. Mikel Arteta is under immense pressure and will be aiming to bolster his squad for the next season.
Buendia works tirelessly off the ball, and his pressing could fit in well with Arteta’s preferred system. The Club’s New chief Richard Garlick is on board and is really pushing to do the deal for Buendia.
He scored 15 goals and set up 16 more in 39 appearances this season. For his part in winning the Championship in Norwich, he was also named the league’s Player of the Season.
The Gunners are great admirers of the Argentine and have been scouting him for the past 18 months. With Ceballos gone and Martin Odegaard’s future in doubt, Buendia would be a great alternative. Arsenal fans will be hoping the club would make some new signing to qualify for the European competitions from the next season.
Aston Villa also seems to be interested in adding more quality to their ranks after having seen their European charge fizzle out after Jack Grealish missed 13 games. With Grealish linked with a move to Manchester City, Buendia would be a good alternative. Loanee Ross Barkley will be going back to his parent club Chelsea. Villa needs an attacking midfielder and squad depth with only Grealish as their source for some creativity.
Villa owners have made funds available to Dean Smith for the upcoming season. The main goal to make suitable signings in midfield and attacking areas. He would be the perfect signing for Aston Villa. The 24-year-old has prior experience in the Premier League and has the potential to improve further.
BUENDIA WANTS TO MOVE?
The Argentine has played his part in stirring up the talk by insisting he dreams of ‘playing on the highest level’ as Premier League clubs come calling.
“One always dreams of being at the highest level and in the best teams in England, Spain, or Europe. One dreams of playing for titles, it is an ambition that I have, it is a pride that important clubs are interested in you, it means that you are doing things well and it is a motivation to continue working and one day achieve it.”
A move from Norwich City to Arsenal or Aston Villa seems almost certain for Emiliano Buendia. Though, these clubs will be more of a stepping stone for the Argentine who has ambitions to achieve much greater things on the top level.
