Atletico Madrid scared of losing player to Chelsea in summer

Atletico Madrid worried about the interest of Chelsea over their valuable shot-stopper.

Signing star players at a cheap rate and managing players are not something new for Chelsea Director. The management wants to get rid of their recent signing Kepa Arrizabalaga. Former Athletic shot-stopper arrived at Stamford Bridge for a record transfer fee. However, Kepa couldn’t find his fleet at Chelsea.

Frank Lampard has shortlisted several targets to be signed this summer. Chelsea defense has been quite an issue for the Londoners recently. The back-line has been a problem for Lampard and has targeted some players. The positions that Lampard wants to strengthen are Left-back, Goalkeeper, and a center-back.

According to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, Chelsea might turn their head to La Liga outfit to sign 27-year-old goalkeeper Jan Oblak. The goalie has been in terrific form in recent years and Chelsea might replace him for Kepa. The expert feels that Atletico Madrid doesn’t want to see Oblak moving to England this summer.

Kepa’s Current Situation at Chelsea

Kepa might once again feature in La Liga with Valencia. Spanish club wants the services of Kepa and are ready to bid if Chelsea shows exit doors to him. The Bats lost their main goalie Neto to Barcelona and are still in search of replacement that of Brazilian standard. The Hollander goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen is present number one for the Bats, however, Kepa could be the man that Valencia needs.

Kepa’s attitude problem is the main worry for Lampard amidst his poor performances recently. This situation has forced former English midfielder to go with Willy Cabellero. The Argentine goalie is experienced enough to be the number one, but Lampard is looking for a top form shot-stopper to be signed this summer.

It all started when Sarri was in charge of the club during the Carabao Cup final game. The game went to extra-time against Manchester City and possibly to the penalties. Sarri wanted to swap Willy in and Kepa out. Sarri wanted to have his experienced man in goal against top from City players. However, Kepa had other plans and denied to come out of the pitch.

Sarri fumed out in anger with Kepa’s attitude. But, Kepa wanted to stay and he won against Sarri. With that decision, frustrated Sarri left the dug-out and went to the dressing room. Chelsea lost that game in penalties with Pep winning another title to his bag.

Will Oblak move to Stamford Bridge?

Jan Oblak was brilliant in the last game against Real Madrid.

Jan Oblak has proved to be the best Goalkeeper in recent seasons around the globe. Diego Simeone’s number one might move to Chelsea if they don’t find their alternative at the right time.

“Atletico Madrid are scared that Oblak will listen to that proposition, to that offer, which could arrive if Chelsea feels that Oblak will be willing to leave,” Balague told viewers on his YouTube channel.

Because the buyout clause is so high, and you’re talking about the most expensive goalkeeper in history, and that’s something that Chelsea will have to obviously try to reduce for Kepa to go the other way. Right now, from Atletico Madrid, they’re saying and [Diego] Simeone is saying that everything starts with Oblak, that he needs to stay.”

“And my understanding is that right now at this stage there has been no offer from Chelsea at all. So we’ll have to keep an eye on it.”

Oblak’s alternative to replace Kepa

According to recent reports, Chelsea has held talks with Rennais goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to replace Kepa at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are looking for a new goalie after the management not happy with the attitude of young shot-stopper Kepa. The Spaniard might leave Chelsea by end of this summer.

The young shot-stopper was looking good for French Ligue 1 side making 24 appearances last season. Mendy managed to keep nine clean sheets and conceded 19 goals overall last season. This lad can be a cheap choice and a good replacement for Kepa.
