Atletico Madrid Transfer News: Atletico Madrid‘s president Enrique Cerezo has given a big update on their French superstar Antoine Griezmann.

A former Real Sociedad academy graduate, Antoine Griezmann made his senior team debut with La Real in 2009. He then joined Atletico Madrid in 2014 and became one of the superstars in the world of football.

Barcelona then signed the French forward in 2019 by paying high huge release clause of €120 million. Griezmann stayed two years with the Catalan giants but could never match the performances of his Atletico days.

La Liga outfits Atletico Madrid’s president Enrique Cerezo has spoken up regarding Griezman’s situation.

Griezmann joined Atleti on a two year loan deal last season but never looked like his former self.

Now, Griezmann’s contract also has a clause of a €40 million mandatory buy option if he plays a certain amount of time throughout this period. With Griezmann’s regressed performances Atleti don’t want to pay that amount to Barca and only using Griezmann for the last 20-25 mins of every match, this season.

Meanwhile, looking at this situation the Catalan club became furious and reportedly threatened to go against Atleti in court.

Then another report came out suggesting Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have reached a middle ground and the Madrid club will pay Barca €25 million for the permanent transfer of the French forward.

Now Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has finally decided to clear up the rumours

According to Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano Cerezo said, “We have not met with Barcelona nor do we intend to do so. Griezmann story is pretty clear”.

He further added, “At the moment we are at the same point, nothing has changed with FCB on Griezmann – same as beginning of the season”.

Earlier Barcelona and Atletico Madrid had a dispute regarding his transfer fee when Griezmann joined Barcelona. Now once the two Spanish clubs are all set for a long stretched fight regarding the same player.
