Two things are very synonymous with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. First his goals and second is his laughter. The Gabon international has been scoring goals for fun since joining Arsenal. While we have seen many times that he is often laughing with his teammates.
However, he can’t laugh all the time as well. Aubameyang is now the club captain. At one point in time, there were serious doubts about whether he will stay or not. Mikel Arteta managed to convince him to stay at Emirates. Now he will spend his peak years at the club.
Being a captain for a top club like Arsenal is a big responsibility. The captain has to himself play well and instruct others. Even if the captain is not playing he has a big presence in the dressing room. Currently, it seems like Aubameyang is taking up that role.
The Gunners hosted Dundalk in their recent Europa League game. It was a comfortable 3-0 win for them. Many top players like Aubameyang himself were rested. However, there was one moment in the game where Auba was not happy with Kieran Tierney.
What made Aubameyang angry at Tierny ?
The Gunners will face Manchester United on Sunday. Thus for the midweek Europa League game, they rested Aubemyang. The club captain was sitting on the bench and he was an unused substitute. Arsenal was leading by 3-0 with ten minutes remaining.
Tierney found himself in space and he had a chance to swing in a cross. Instead of crossing the ball, he decided to have a go at it. The shot hardly tested the Dundalk goalkeeper. Instead, it went over the crossbar and into the stands.
Aubemyang hit the seat in front of him twice in frustration over Tierney’s shot. It can also be seen that he later discussed Scot’s shot with Alexandre Laccazatte. The Frenchman was also an unused substitute in the Europa League game.
Though it is also possible that he might be frustrated because he did not play the game. However, considering the Manchester United game it looks like the right decision. Eddie Nketiah, Joe Willock, and Nicolas Pepe scored in space for ten minutes.
What’s next for Arsenal, Aubemyang, and Tierney?
Mikel Arteta will be hopeful that his team can carry on their form in the Premier League. Manchester United will be a big test for Mikel Arteta. The Red Devils have been in great form since the 1-6 defeat to Tottenham. They recently defeated RB Leipzig 5-0 in the Champions League.
Arsenal has won nine points from six games so far. The gap between them and Liverpool is just four points. Arteta will be hopeful that his side can pick up the form and close the gap further. It will help them to secure the top-four finish.
As for Aubemyang, he needs to quickly find his best form. Since scoring on the opening day of Premier League he is yet to find the back of the net. The former Dortmund forward has only scored in the Europa League. There will no better game than against United to find his form.
Kieran Tierney has also been solid for the Gunners. The youngster has been praised for his attitude and hard work this season. He is only 23 years old and with time he will improve as well.
