BAN vs NZ 2022: Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan unavailable for crucial tour

Before the New Zealand test series, Bangladesh received a double blow as both Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal are ruled out of the series.

BAN vs NZ 2022 – Bangladesh will begin the New Year with a New Zealand tour for 2-test matches. The visitors will play the red ball cricket series without the services of all-rounder batsman Shakib Al Hasan. BCB chairman Najmul Hassan has confirmed the unavailability of a rounder for the New Zealand tour.

But earlier a few weeks ago, Bangladesh selectors have included the all-rounder in the lineup for the upcoming series. But the official news about the unavailability of the player, Shakib Al Hasan himself cleared it out first assured by BCB later.

In the interaction with ESPN, Chairman Najmul Hassan has said, “It’s all the player chooses to play the respective series or take a break from the game. But we have been saying this for a long time. We want the player to inform such unavailability with an official request. Shakib Al Hasan requested has been accepted for unavailability” the BCB chairman highlighted.

While talking further about the player’s unavailability, the BCB chairman narrates, “From now onwards we are expecting the players to inform us about their unavailability for any such professional tour in advance. Not only does it help us to execute the proper plan for the team but also prepare for the player alternatives

Shakib, in 2021, went through a bad phase where he skipped white-ball fixtures first against New Zealand. While after he has missed the Sri Lanka test series also to play the franchise cricket in IPL.

Unavailability of Shakib Al Hasan is not embarassing says Najmul Hassan

The all-rounder’s unavailability is not embarrassing as confirmed through an official request to look for alternatives. Earlier such requests had been made unofficially from the player’s end. Now we are such a template that player has to request such unavailability in advance to the boards.

The red ball cricket series part of the World Test Championship starts on January 1st between New Zealand and Bangladesh (Visitors). Bangladesh departure will be on December 9 to complete the quarantine period. Before the test series commence visitors will also practice matches.

New Zealand has yet to announce his test series squad and they are likely to miss the services of Kane Williamson who has been out of action for 2 months due to injury. The official news about the unavailability of Kane was Confirmed by his head coach Gary Stead.

“Last time after the World Test Championship [final] and before the IPL and T20 World Cup was about eight or nine weeks. I expect it’s somewhere in that time frame again. We’re trying not to put time frames on it at this stage,” Stead said.

Kane Williamson also missed the recent Kanpur test match where his team has lost badly against the host. Kane Williamson will also miss the tour of Australia while returning to South Africa tour in 2022. Sunrisers Hyderabad has retained Kane Williamson ahead of IPL 2022 at the price of 14 cr.

Along with Shakib Al Hasan Bangladesh opener, Tamim Iqbal has also been ruled out of the series due to a thumb injury which was confirmed earlier by the official.
