Serie A giants AS Roma had a great summer transfer window in terms of income. A set of players took an exit from the Stadio Olimpico and the club made a decent profit from it. In terms of signings, they are not done as the Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho got more demands.

The exit of Florenzi, Pedro, Kluivert, Ünder, Bruno Peres, Jesus, Mirante, Antonucci, Dzeko, and Pau Lopez added around ₤60 million to the Roma bank. In terms of signings, AS Roma are still eyeing options from the summer window.

Jose Mourinho made a few signings from the window as a reinforcement action on the departures. The English striker Tammy Abraham from Chelsea is one of them. The 26-year-old Eldor Shomurodov is another attacking addition Roma made this summer.

They also signed Rui Patricio in front of the goal from Wolves. The defensive department got three more reinforcements for the season. Matías Vina, Roger Ibanez, Bryan Reynolds are the new arrival in the backline.

According to the latest transfer updates, AS Roma are focussing on a defender and a midfielder. They need more experienced options in the lineup to keep up the fight in Italy.

Lenglet-transfer prospects

Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet is the major target for AS Roma in the last week of the summer transfer window. The Frenchmen extended his Barca contract till 2026 in the summer.

Dispatching him from Catalonia is not an easy task for the Italians. But, the debt problems of Barcelona will open up a chance for a deal. Also, the 26-year-old is not sure about the playing minutes under Ronald Koeman.

Clement Lenglet to Roma?

Lenglet needs to address the challenge from Eric Garcia and Pique within the squad. Koeman is not favoring the Frenchman, which can reflect in the transfer market in this situation.

There were rumors that the defender will be available in the range of ₤15 million in the transfer market. But, the contract extension will make it harder in the market for a buyer. Premier League sides West Ham and Everton had interests in the player but backed off later due to financial concerns.

Switching to Roma is a good choice for Lenglet in terms of playing minutes. Jose Mourinho is keen on the player’s stat at the backline. He made 134 appearances for the Catalan giants and holds plenty of experience in the top-level stages.

AS Roma started off the season in Italy with a 3-1 win over Fiorentina. But the manager is yet to be satisfied with the squad for the season. The match was played with 10 men after the red card was shown to Bartlomiej Dragowski and Nicolo Zaniolo.

After the game, Mourinho commented on the performance, “It was a real game, entertaining, even though we didn’t play very well. We were good 11 against 11, 10 against 10 good, but not 11 against 10.” (Source)

There is a chance for more additions from the transfer window. Jose Mourinho always prefers multiple options for a position and in Roma, he will demand the same all look after all available options from the transfer window.
