The midfielder is set to join Barcelona and is already making Barcelona fans love him outclassing it’s rival players.
If there’s a player on who knows how to get instantly loved by Barcelona fans then it is Frenkie De Jong. The Dutch midfielder who currently plays for Ajax will be playing with the La Liga champions next season. Barcelona confirmed the £65million arrival of the 21-year-old De Jong in January, with the move set to be officially completed in the summer. It seems De Jong is wasting no time to showcase his worth and catch attention of his future club’s fans. Earlier this season, Frenkie De Jong garnered Barcelona fan’s attention by bamboozling FIFA World Player of the year Luka Modric. It seems once again the young Dutchman has garnered the fan’s attraction by bamboozling yet another Real Madrid player. ‘
Frenkie de Jong sent Toni Kroos spinning back to Madrid during last night’s Euro 2020 qualifier. Frenkie de Jong gave Toni Kroos a taste of what can be expected in next season’s El Clasico derby, as he humiliated the Real Madrid man on the international stage. De Jong’s Holland faced Kroos’ Germany in Amsterdam, and the pair engaged in a battle of the midfield as both nations went head to head in a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying clash. The 21-year-old Dutch ace starred in midfield though he was unable to steer his country to victory. In the first-half, De Jong failed to make an impression. However, he lit up the second-half with a superb performance. But he did produce a moment of magic. Once again, he couldn’t go the full 90 minutes without embarrassing a Real Madrid player – and it came on stoppage-time against Toni Kroos. It caught the attention of the football world, as De Jong received a pass and waited for Kroos to draw himself into a challenge, before leaving him tackling shadows. The slender-framed playmaker dropped his shoulder and pivoted around the ball, knocking it effortlessly into space with a graceful little touch and dribbling away.
World Cup winner Kroos was left stumbling over the touchline as De Jong surged forward and sliced open the Germany defence with a weighted through-ball. De Jong received the ball on the right touchline and performed a full 360-degree turn, leaving Kroos spinning. The Ajax midfielder, who’ll join Barcelona in the summer, also completed 62 passes with a 86% pass accuracy, not to mention recording eight tackles. Kroos, though, had the last laugh after helping Germany to a 3-2 win over Netherlands away from home. The visitors raced into a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry.
The hosts drew proceedings courtesy of second-half goals from Matthijs de Ligt and Memphis Depay. Yet Germany secured all three points in dramatic fashion after Nico Schulz netted in the 90th minute.
De Jong is a dynamic version of Sergio Busquets in those tight spaces and once again he proved why Barcelona were so keen to sign him on such a hefty fee. It will interesting who will win the midfield battle in El-Classico next season.
