Barca to go after PL Star if they fail to sign Coutinho

According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Barcelona is ready with another plan of signing Ozil from Arsenal if they fail to complete the signing of their most wanted player – Phillipe Coutinho.

With the transfer deal of Neymar close to completion, Barca has already started looking for other options to fill in his place.

The Spanish giants constantly have been chasing players starting initially from Marco Veratti, Coutinho and now finally Mesut Ozil.

Though Coutinho is known to be at the top of the wishlist of Barca. The Spanish side believes that they could strike a deal with the Gunners for Ozil if they fail to sign Coutinho from Liverpool for a sum of £53million.

The Gunnerman only has a year left on his current contract deal and is still to make the decision for his extension at the Emirates.

Though Ozil is quite happy with his stay at Arsenal an offer from La Liga giants will surely be hard to resist for him.

The German International made 33 appearances in the Premier League last season in which he scored 8 goals and provided 9 assists. His trickery, pace and swift movements with the ball are known to everyone right from the time when he used to play for Real Madrid. If Barcelona would sign him this summer, his gameplay will help them greatly for sure.

Spanish Outlet Don Balon added that Barcelona also like the idea given Ozil’s popularity among Real Madrid supporters.

Ozil spent three years with Madrid between 2010 and 2013 and helped them win La Liga in 2012.

When Ozil was sold to Arsenal after the arrival of Gareth Bale, everybody criticised the decision of Carlo Ancelotti of letting go of the star player. This might be the perfect time for the Blaugrana to steal him from Arsenal and make Los Blancos realise their wrong decision.
