Barcelona want the world’s best stars at the Camp Nou and have thus added a next-generation star to their shopping list for the winter transfer window.
There is a reason as to why Barcelona brought in the likes of Arthur Melo, Ousmane Dembele, Malcom, Clement Lenglet, with the oldest at 23. The Camp Nou side want the best young talents at the club and with La Masia struggling to reproduce at the best talent in the world, has led the reigning La Liga champions to look elsewhere for players.
From the likes of Sergio Busquets, Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, La Masia started producing the likes of Sergio Roberto and Bojan Krkic among others, but it simply wasn’t the same and now things have simply changed. But now with the club spending just under 250 million on four under 23 players this year alone, it looks like Barcelona are going to do it once again and it’s AS Roma star Cengiz Under.
According to reports from Spanish news outlet Sport, the 21-year-old Serie A star has been intensively scouted by Barcelona and a few other top European sides for quite some-time, with the AS Roma star impressing. The Turkish international started his career in the Serie A brilliantly, scoring four goals in three appearances and even going to find the back of the net in his Champions League debut.
However, it was his performances at both Basakeshir and Altinordu that showed exactly why the 20-year-old could do great at Roma. Under went on to score 20 goals and produce a further 16 assists in just 101 appearances for both clubs, all before he turned 19 years old. In his debut season for the Giallorossi, the 21-year-old finished with 8 goals and two assists, with his game time increasing as the season move on.

This season, despite struggling to find his footing and losing his place to the likes of Justin Kluivert, Nicolo Zaniolo and Ante Coric among others, has made it tougher for Cengiz Under. But despite that, his talent has shined through and the Turkish star has still managed to come up with 3 goals and five assists.
It makes sense that Barcelona are after Cengiz Under, given that the Turkish youngster has exactly what Barcelona look for in a winger. Pace, vision and attacking prowess, not to mention a lethal finisher, but will he do much better at AS Roma where he is guaranteed game-time? Especially with the likes of Malcom, Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho ahead in the pecking order.
