Barcelona have reportedly decided to send Carles Alena out on loan in a deal that will last till the end of the season and not include a purchase option.
Carles Alena has struggled for playing time at the Camp Nou having played just 45 minutes in La Liga this season. The Spaniard featured briefly in Barca’s opening match against Athletic Bilbao in La Liga before being subbed off at half time by Ernesto Valverde. Since then, Alena made it to the bench only two times and has been completely left out of the squad for the rest games.
Alena made his senior debut for Barcelona in October 2016, starting and scoring the equalizer in an away 1-1 draw at Hercules CF. He has gone on to score two more goals in 35 first-team appearances so far. Barcelona are unwilling to let Alena leave but understand that the 21 year old needs to play in order to continue his development and believe that a loan move would be the best option.
According to Sport, Barcelona have agreed to loan out Alena to one of the La Liga teams in a six month deal that would not include an option to purchase. The Catalan Club are believed to have plenty of oprions with Real Betis, Celta Vigo, Getafe and Granada are all interested in the midfielder although previous reports have suggested Tottenham might also be keen to sign the 21 year old.
Alena has been with the Catalan Giants since he was seven years old and has time and again expressed his desire to succeed at the club. New midfield signings Frenkie de Jong and Arthur however have cemented their positions as undisputed starters and it will be hardly a surprise if Barca decide to send Alena out on loan spell that would at least offer him the opportunity to show what he can do out on the pitch.
