The Catalan club defeated their arch-rivals in their own backyards to open up the 14 point difference and the board is obviously happy with the result.
Barcelona scored 3 past Real’s defense in the El Clasico to enter the holiday season in style. The victory became more special as it opened up staggering 14 points difference between two eternal rivals. It also marked the first instance of Barcelona beating Real Madrid in 3 successive league games at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Catalans also sit comfortably at the top with 9 points difference to second place Atletico Madrid.
“Merry” Christmas at the Camp Nou:
The Barcelona board also rejoiced in the success as it granted Christmas holidays for the players. The club also allowed Luis Suarez, Leo Messi, and Javier Mascherano to take an extended leave for the New Year celebration.
The statement released by the board reads: “The FC Barcelona squad are now on their Christmas holidays. The final whistle at the Bernabeu and the 3-0 victory over Real Madrid marked the beginning of the festive break for the players until their return to training on 30 December at 6.00pm CET.”
“Luis Suarez, Leo Messi and Javier Mascherano all have the club’s permission to rejoin the rest of their team-mates on in the New Year on 2 January.”

While the attacking duo of Messi and Suarez will be back on 2nd January, Mascherano is being linked with a move to China. The reports claim that Barcelona is waiting for Umtiti’s return from the injury to allow the Argentine to leave. The trio will return on 2nd January to join the rest of the squad as Barcelona resume their Copa Del Rey title defense with a Round of 16 matches against Celta Vigo on 4th January.
Author’s Take:
It is a great gesture by the Barca board to allow their main players some deserved rest. While Suarez can use his holidays to get back to 100% fitness, Mascherano’s extended holidays seem to be related to his move. Regardless, 2018 is looking bright for the players and fans of Barcelona as the club will look to continue their unbeaten run.
The dicision made by the club i really concious thing with regard to the current dedication made by the players.I hope the wil come back strongly and 100% fit.
