Barcelona are going to face Real Madrid in La Liga amidst squad dilemma
Barcelona went through an average performance mid-week against Napoli. Antoine Griezmann saved the Blaugrana with his 57th-minute equalizer in the round of 16 of the Champions League. The Catalan giants managed to escape the Stadio San Paolo with a draw on Tuesday night. After losing Vidal and Busquets to suspensions, they must now try to finish the Italians off at Camp Nou in three weeks’ time. This will be their toughest test in the Champions League thus far considering the lack of team depth.
They are up against Los Blancos in their next La Liga venture. Manchester City beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg in Santiago Bernabeu. Pep Guardiola’s tactics left Zinedine Zidane baffled after Isco gave Real an undeserved lead. Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne struck late on to make it 2-1 as the manchester outfit took a crucial lead for the second leg.
There are a number of significant players for Barcelona in the injury list currently. Ousmane Dembele is sidelined for the rest of the season. Luis Suarez will also not be available until April at least after undergoing knee surgery in January. Sergi Roberto is a new addition to the absentee list. A statement confirmed he has been ruled out for three to four weeks with the right adductor injury
Jordi Alba returns from injury
The Catalunya outfit did confirm that Jordi Alba picked up a groin injury. He received the unexpected in the early stages of Saturday’s clash with Getafe with his return not set. But his recovery from an adductor personal injury has provided Barcelona a conditioning increase on Friday. The Spaniard took part in some of the sessions. Although it’s not predictable he will be in good shape to start against Real Madrid on Sunday.
Gerard Pique was also present for the session and it looks like he will be to face Madrid. He will be shrugging off an ankle knock picked up against Napoli in the Champions League. The Daily reports the center-back again will associate both Samuel Umtiti or Clement Lenglet on Sunday, while Junior Firpo should really keep on in the position of Alba.
