It was a decision that seems worse in hindsight as Messi himself confirmed he was willing to take a significant pay cut to stay at Barcelona but still wasn’t possible for the club.
The Barcelona legend spoke out for the first time since his sacking by the Spanish in October and revealed he was surprised to see his former club splash out £45million for Ferran Torres from Manchester City.

Barcelona has steadily improved since the departure of Ronald Koeman. He was replaced by Xavi Hernandez and they are back among contention for the Champions League. They have been eliminated from the Champions League, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Supercopa.
Koeman Left the Dutch national side and made his return to Barcelona as the manager in the summer of 2020. He led them to Copa del Rey glory and a third-place finish before being sacked early this season.
