Barcelona news: Sergio Busquets is among one of the best midfielders of his generation.
Busquets joined Blaugrana’s youth academy in 2005 and worked through the club’s youth ranks to make his LaLiga debut in 2008. He has played 455 league games for the club so far, scoring 11 goals.
The 34-year-old midfielder helped the Catalan club win 30 major trophies, including eight La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies. Busquets won the Bravo Award in 2009 and was also included in the 2015-16’s La Liga Team of the Season.
The Sabadell-born footballer is also a key member of the Spanish national team, featuring 137 times for his country since making his debut in 2009. He was part of the Red Furry’s squad that won the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and UEFA European Championship in 2012.

According to Fabrizio Romano, several MLS clubs are monitoring the situation of Sergio Busquests at Barcelona.
American clubs are trying to sign him since the summer of 2021. But Busquets is committed to fulfilling his contract at Barca, which will expire at the end of the current season.
However, he is unlikely to extend his stay beyond that as he has turned 34 this year and is clearly on a decline. He could be tempted by an opportunity to play for a new club during the final years of his career.
The Blaugrana could turn to Jorginho to replace Busquets
Jorginho has been a key performer for the Blues since joining from Chelsea in the summer window of 2018. He has played 131 league games for the Premier League so far, scoring 20 goals. The Italy international helped the London outfit win the UEFA Champions League in 2020-21 and was included in the competition’s Team of the Season for his performances.
However, his current contract at Stamford Bridge will expire at the end of the current season. The Blues could sell him during the January window as opposed to letting him leave for free in 2023.
Barcelona is currently second in the LaLiga table, with 16 points from six games. They will next play Mallorca in the league before facing Inter Milan at San Siro in the UEFA Champions League game on October 5.
