Barcelona News: The Spanish giants are set to be without Argentine striker Sergio Aguero, at least for the next three months.
Sergio Aguero, who joined FC Barcelona from Manchester City in the summer, complained of feeling “dizzy” in the game against Deportivo Alaves.
The striker was substituted before half-time in his second consecutive start with the Blaugrana.
The 33-year-old Argentine has just managed to feature in 5 matches as he had just returned from an injury. Aguero scored his first FC Barcelona goal in the 2-1 El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid.
Following the cardiovascular episode, FC Barcelona put out an official statement addressing the Argentine’s condition.
What happened to Aguero and how is he now?
Sergio Aguero went down, clutching his chest in the first half of the game against Deportivo Alaves. The striker was tended to by the medical team on the pitch and a stretcher was brought for the player.
But Aguero said that he was able to walk and walked off the pitch, to be substituted by Philippe Coutinho.
The striker had reportedly complained to the medical staff about the shortness of breath and discomfort in his chest.
The Ex-Manchester City man was sent to the hospital following the whole episode. Upon which it was confirmed that he had suffered from cardiac arrhythmia.
FC Barcelona later updated the situation on their official website. The club posted “Sergio Agüero has been subjected to a diagnostic and therapeutic process by Dr. Josep Brugada. He is unavailable for selection and during the next three months the effectiveness of treatment will be evaluated to determine his recovery process.”
Sergio Aguero would be out of action at least until February. The striker received well wishes from all of the football fraternity, including his ex-teammates at Manchester City. Barca’s new #10, Ansu Fati dedicated his Champions League goal against Dynamo Kyiv to Sergio Aguero.
Aguero has since been discharged, but his situation is being monitored regularly. The exact extent of his problem has not been disclosed at the moment.
What Sergio Aguero said on Social Media?
The Argentine took to Social Media after the whole Cardiovascular episode and had a message for his fans and well-wishers. The Argentine wrote, “I am well and in good spirits to face the recovery process. I want to thank you all for so many messages of love and support that make my heart stronger today.”
This whole Cardiovascular episode reminded us of what Christian Eriksen suffered at this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament. We at the Twelfth Man Times wish Sergio Aguero a quick and full recovery and we hope that he is back on the pitch as soon as possible.
