Barcelona perform Striker transfer U-turn amid Jorge Mendes involvement

Barcelona was keen to sign Arsenal attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Catalan Giants made their first January priority to Emerick Aubameyang, they look to replace injured front-man Luis Suarez.

But the reports revealed that they have made a U-turn with their priority and turns attention towards fulfilling other targets.

To land Aubameyang the efforts made were set to meet a firm and quick response from the Arsenal side. It determined not to lose their captain, whilst Rodrigo represents a more realistic target.

The La Liga giants linked for a movie with the Arsenal forward in recent weeks. But are now said to be focusing on other targets.

Barcelona was said, to be concerned by the time with Aubameyang may take to adapt to La Liga. As they look for someone to fill-in and make an instant impact in the absence of Suarez.

By all these reports, Barcelona has reportedly performed a U-turn in their pursuit of Aubameyang.

According to Barcelona publications, Club is looking at alternatives. Super-agent Jorge Mendes said to be working on a deal for Valencia striker Rodrigo to move to the Nou Camp.

The fresh news which brings relief for Arsenal fans. The club has relied heavily on his goals in the three-and-a-half years since he joined from Borussia Dortmund.

Emerick Aubameyang scored about 57 times in over 91 appearances and so far has 16 in all competitions this season.

They are keen to sign Rodrigo on a loan deal and are also ready to pay his full fee as well as wages.

But according to reports on the ongoing talks, it’s not final that whether a purchase option in the summer will be included or not.
