Barcelona news: The Blaugrana are interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva.
Silva has established himself among the best footballers in Europe since joining the Cityzens from AS Monaco in the summer transfer window of 2017. He has played 176 Premier League games so far, registering 31 goals and 32 assists.
The Portugal international helped the Cityzens win four Premier League titles, among other honours. He won 2018-19’s Manchester City Player of the Season and was also included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season twice.
Silva also won the UEFA Nations Cup with Portugal in 2019 and was named the competition’s Player of the Season for his performances.
Bernardo Silva linked with a move to Camp Nou
According to Todofihajes (via Sportskeeda), Barcelona are plotting a January move for Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva. They are preparing a €55 million bid to bring him to Camp Nou.
However, any possible move could depend on the sale of Frenkie de Jong. Manchester City are reportedly willing to let Silva leave should he want it.
The Portugal international has been on Blaugrana’s radar for quite some time now. They also tried to sign him during the summer window but a move failed to materialise due to their inability to offload De Jong. Xavi will look to sell him again during the upcoming transfer window.
Apart from Silva, N’Golo Kante, Youri Tielemans and Jorginho are other Premier League midfielders linked with a move to the La Liga club in recent weeks. The Blaugrana is likely to have a busy winter transfer window.
What will Bernardo Silva bring to Camp Nou?
Valued at £72 million by TransferMarkt, Silva is a versatile footballer who is capable of playing in various roles across midfield and forward line. His key strengths are his passing and dribbling skills, along with his ability to unlock opposing defenses with his key passes.
He has featured in all of the Cityzens opening 10 league games, registering two goals and four assists. According to WhoScored, he has averaged 1.4 key passes, 1.1 shots, and 0.9 dribbles per 90.
Apart from that, he has completed 90.7 percent of his attempted passes in the English top division.
Barcelona are currently second in the LaLiga table, three points behind leaders Real Madrid. They will next go up against Villarreal and Athletic Club respectively in the league.
