Barcelona President Gives Huge Update On Lionel Messi’s Future

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirms in a press conference that they are already having discussions over a possible contract renewal of the Argentine gem. Leo is already been under a contract till 2018 but, the Spanish giant Blaugrana club are willing to offer him new terms. Reports suggest that a new deal had already been agreed back in July. According to the FC Barcelona President, it is only a matter of time before the greatest footballer of all time, as believed by many, officially agrees terms and signs another new contract with the current Spanish Champions and 5 time European Champion of the world.

The Catalan club’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu told Catalunya Radio,

“Messi has two years of contract but we will talk with him to renew because we want him to continue,” he added,

“Messi is the number one player in the world. The tax issues faced by his family is something that we do not like because sometimes players are not responsible for these things.”

The Argentine superstar has overcome the disappointment of losing the Copa America Centenario final in June, as he helped Barcelona win Supercopa de Espana.

The 29 year old Argentine currently battles a hamstring injury as his Argentina side prepare to face Uruguay in the World Cup Qualifiers. However Messi has already shown a impressive performance in the Spanish Primera Division season with him scoring a brace and providing a sitter to Suarez in his and FC Barcelona’s very first match of the 16/17 La Liga season.
