The Brazilian forward has been placed in the transfer list by Barcelona and has attracted attention from various English and Italian clubs.
Barcelona are looking to sell winger Malcom this summer. Malcom arrived to Barcelona last season but spent most of the season on the bench. The Brazilian burst into the scene in 2017-2018, when he scored 12 times for Bordeaux. While also making 7 assists for them.
Barcelona signed him the forthcoming season for 41 million Euros. Malcom made 26 appearances for the Catalans last season, scoring 5 times for them. The Winger also managed two assists in that time. With the arrival of Antoinne Griezmann and possible Neymar move, Malcom’s chances of playing in Spain next season are slim. Barcelona have 6 forwards with them including Malcom whilst Coutinho can also play as a wide man. Malcom’s agent has told Barcelona about his client’s wish to leave the club due to lack of game time.
Barcelona have received a 41.7 million Euro offer for Malcom from Arsenal. Although Barcelona regards the player at 55.5 million Euros, they may be tempted to sell Malcom provided no better offer arrives. Arsenal are looking for winger/playmaker who can fill the void created by Ramsey. With Ozil also dipping out of form, Arsenal are serious candidates to sign Malcom. The only backlash, their 40 million transfer budget. Arsenal are looking for a centre-half as well as a central midfielder.
They have signed Dani Ceballos and Gabriel Martinelli so far. But the gunners are still the weakest in the top six. They even fear to lose their title as England’s elite to Wolves or Everton. Arsenal are also in advanced talks with Rennes for Nicolas Pepe and Crystal Palace star Zaha. If any of these deals materialise, Arsenal will be out of the race to sign Malcom.
Everton are also rumoured to be interested in the winger. Everton signed three players from Barcelona last season namely Andre Gomes, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne. Malcom would become the fourth player to join Barcelona from Everton since last season.
They are yet to open formal talks with Barcelona for Malcom. According to Goal, Borussia Dortmund are in advanced talks with Barca over a €42m (£37.5m) deal for the Brazilian. Malcom has a $200 million release clause with Barcelona.
Yet, Barcelona will be ready to sell the player for 42 million Euros, 1 million more than the money spent on purchasing the player. Inter, Napoli and Milan are also interested in Malcom’s signature. Napoli manager, Carlo Ancelotti wants James transfer but that doesn’t seem to be happening. Hence, Malcom comes second in line.
Malcom’s transfer hugely depends on Neymar’s transfer to Barcelona. Incase he re-joins Barcelona, he would occupy the non-EU spot in the front three. Barcelona have told Malcom that they would let him leave only for a big offer. Although a loan move also seems possible.
Barcelona stole Malcom from Roma last season. Malcom had arrived to Roma for his medical when Barcelona came and swooped the Brazilian. Malcom is not the only player that can leave Barcelona this season. Players like Samuel Umtiti, Raktić, Dembele and Philipe Coutinho are also linked for a move away from Barcelona.
Barcelona spent more than 200 million so far this summer on players like Neto, Griezmann and Frenkie De Jong. Barcelona would want to recoup the money spent to make the Neymar transfer possible.
