La Blaugrana will be glad to know that not one but two Inter Milan stars suffered injuries and will not be a part clash against Barcelona on in the Champions League.
In a feisty Milan derby this Sunday, the Nerazzurri battled extremely hard against their local and bitter rivals AC Milan to win the game. It took Inter two minutes into stoppage time after the ninety to score the only goal of the game and sink those Milan fans’ hearts at the San Siro. Argentine striker Mauro Icardi added took his tally to six goals for the season as the 25-year-old helped Inter gain all three points in the physical Milan derby but it came at a cost with two stars injured for the mid-week Barcelona clash.
That win would give Inter plenty of confidence heading into Barcelona’s den at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t all rosy for Luciano Spalletti’s side as two of his key players wobbled off the pitch with injuries during the derby.
Inter Milan midfielder Radja Rainggolan was forced off the pitch with an ankle problem just 30 minutes into the game with initial reports claiming that the Belgian suffered a sprained ankle. The box to box midfielder is usually the engine for his team and sets the tempo of the game but he will surely miss the midweek trip to Catalonia.
Another worry for the Serie A side is the injury to Croatian midfielder Ivan Perisic as the 29-year-old was replaced by Keita Balde on 70 minutes. The star winger is one of the best wingers in the world at the moment and Inter will be sweating on his fitness after he limped off the pitch.
Barcelona and Inter Milan have both won their opening two games in the Champions League but the odds certainly favor Barcelona for this clash at the Camp Nou.
Perisic and Nainggolan are usually the backbones of a side. They are very underrated players with immense quality on the ball. Hopefully, Inter hopes Perisic can make it back to the squad with a miraculous recovery.
