While everyone wants to join Barcelona, not everyone can make it at Camp Nou and so it has been proved time and time again, with the club negotiating deals for two superstars to leave.
Barcelona is a haven for some of football’s best prospects and superstars, which includes the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and so many others. But unlike many stars who do end up making it, the majority of players who join the club, eventually end up leaving after a struggling to make an impact at Camp Nou.
That’s why Barcelona have reportedly started negotiating deals for both Paco Alcacer and Paulinho to leave the club, with the two stars already on loan. Bleacher Report further adds that the Catalan giants want to add money to Ernesto Valverde’s coffers to allow the club to spend more in next summer’s window, thus strengthening their side for the future. While Alcacer is on loan at Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, Brazil international Paulinho is back at his former club Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League.
The report further adds that negotiations are well underway, with Barcelona asking the Bundesliga giants for around €23 million for the Spanish striker and around €50 million for Paulinho. Alcacer who has been in stunning form for Dortmund has been one of the many reasons why the Bundesliga side sit atop the German top tier table going into the November international break.
The 25-year-old has scored eight goals in his opening six appearances this season and now sits at 9 goals in eight games for the Signal Iduna Park side in all competitors. His resurgence has given Dortmund a massive boost, who have looked for a number 9 since they lost Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Meanwhile, Paulinho has been in good form as well for Evergrande, scoring 13 goals and producing a further seven assists. But while his one year tenure with Barcelona came to an end rather quickly, many expected the 30-year-old to return next season, but reports have indicated that Barcelona always wanted to sell him back at the end of his loan spell.
For Borussia Dortmund, €23 million is an absolute bargain for Paco Alcacer and if he continues scoring freely, they’ve finally got the striker they’ve always needed. However, the question remains will Barcelona get €50 million for a 30-year-old Paulinho, despite his form off late for the Chinese Super League side. If they do, that would be brilliant business on their part and the money would definitely help next season.
