Barcelona set to offer a New Star to PSG for Neymar Deal

The Brazilian only moved to France for a world-record £200m in 2017, but his switch to the Parc Des Princes hasn’t gone to plan.

In each of his two seasons with the club, PSG have not made it past the last-16 stage of the Champions League – the only major trophy missing from their cabinet.

Barcelona Offer a New Star to PSG for Neymar

And amid reports Neymar is desperate to rejoin Barca before the European transfer window closes on August 31, the French outfit’s sporting director Leonardo recently confirmed he can leave for the right price.

“Neymar can leave PSG, if there is an offer that suits everyone,” he told La Parisien.

“But to date, we do not know if anyone wants to buy him, or at what price. All this is not done in a day, that’s for sure.

“PSG wants to rely on players who want to stay and build something big. We do not need players who would do a favour at the club by staying here.”

Barcelona have already forked out £106m to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid this summer, meaning cash is running low at the Nou Camp right now.

Certain reports suggest Ernesto Valverde’s side have offered PSG a player-plus-cash deal instead, with a selection of their unwanted stars to choose from.

According to journalist Tancredi Palmeri, Barca are willing to offer the Ligue 1 champions £92m and Coutinho in order to bring Neymar back.

“Barcelona ready to offer Coutinho + 100m€ [£92m] for Neymar,” he said on Twitter.

“PSG want Coutinho + 140m€ [£130m].

“If deal goes through, PSG ready to use the money to sign [Paulo] Dybala and [Gianluigi] Donnarumma.”

Coutinho signed for Barca in a stunning £130m move from Liverpool back in January 2018.

However, the Brazil international has failed to justify such a hefty price-tag in his time at the club and has now been deemed surplus to requirements.

He was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in the final few days of the English transfer window, but it is believed the north London club were put off by Barca’s extortionate asking price.
