Barcelona are on a streak of three matches without victory across all competitions. One of their most important players has pointed out a place where the team massively lacks.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid played to a stalemate of a 1-1 scoreline on Saturday evening, thereby leading to the Catalans’ concession of the top spot to title rivals Sevilla. It has been clear that Ernesto Valverde’s men have failed in maintaining consistency through the season and needed to get back to doing well, especially at the back.
Sergio Busquets gave a verdict about Barcelona’s form. “We had one very bad week with the matches against Girona, Leganes and Athletic and we paid for it,” he said in an interview with Catalunya Radio. “We’ve not been as solid and effective away from home as we’d like to be. There is a long way to go in the league and we have had some very good matches against great teams, while we’ve also done well in the Champions League.”

Barcelona have not been at their irresistible this season

Sergio Busquets also touched 500 appearances for the Catalans in the Atletico Madrid game and was asked about his future. While the 30-year-old wants to continue strong in Spain itself, he feels that it is impossible to match Xavi Hernandez’s figure of appearances.
“To reach the appearance total of Xavi is impossible, I’m not thinking about that,” he said. “I’d like to achieve it, but it won’t be possible. I want to finish things well and be useful for the team without being a problem. I don’t know when [the end of his Barcelona career will be]. From there, if I feel good, I’d like to try another kind of football, maybe in the USA, Japan or Qatar. When it’s all over I want to enjoy my family because I’ve never really had four days off in a row. Then I’d like to study to become a coach.”
Ousmane Dembele has been hitting the headlines of late. From Saturday onward, it has been regarding his Atletico Madrid goal and potential transfer to somewhere else but before that, there was talk about Dembele being despised by Barcelona’s members for his conduct in the training sessions.
“Life has changed,” he pointed out. “When I came into the team it was different, there wasn’t as much nonsense on social media. There are now some things that are better and some that are worse. You need to find a balance. Some players have won everything at youth level and are on the front pages. There’s a need to remain mature and to know how to make it.”

It is not for anything that Sergio Busquets is Barcelona’s vice-captain and in contention to wear the armband after Lionel Messi is gone. The 30-year-old is the epitome of a leader and promises to bring a lot to the team. He has been one of the world’s best ever players in the defensive midfielder’s role since a long time now.
