La Liga giants FC Barcelona are all set to miss one of the major targets for the summer of 2023, Jose Gaya as the Spaniard is very close to renewing with his club Valencia.

Jose Gaya joined the academy of Valencia at a very early age. He then graduated from the Valencia academy and played for the reserve team of the Spanish club.

After performing consistently for the reserve team, Gaya finally made his senior team debut in 2012. It took him some time to settle into the senior squad. But finally, in the 2014-15 season, Gaya became a starter for the La Liga team when Nuno Espirito Santo joined Valencia.

He showed great consistency while playing for Los Che and was awarded his national debut in a 6-0 win over Croatia. So far, Gaya has made 18 appearances for La Roja and is a regular member of Luis Enrique’s team.

After a decade of dominance in La Liga, Spanish giants Barcelona are currently going through a transition period.

The Blaugrana signed multiple players to improve their squad at the start of the season. Their signs soon became a hit and Barcelona have got a great start to their current La Liga season. The Blaugrana won seven of their first eight matches and are unbeaten in the league.

They are currently at the pole position in the Spanish league ahead of defending champions Real Madrid on goal difference. However, despite this, Barcelona are looking to sign multiple players in the upcoming windows. And for that, they were mainly looking at the free agents.

The Catalans possess a keen interest in Valencia fullback Jose Gaya. They tried to sign the fullback in the earlier windows too but have failed so far. Now Gaya’s contract with Valencia is going to expire at the end of the season.

Looking at this it was understood, Barcelona will go for the left-back once again the next summer. However, unfortunately for the Blaugrana fans, the Catalans are going to suffer a big hit in the Gaya transfer.

The reports further suggest that Valencia coach Gattuso wanted the fullback to stay and now they will soon reach an agreement of principle with him in the next few days.

With Gaya looking out of sight, it seems like Barcelona will have put their bet on their young talent Alejandro Balde for the next few seasons. Along with him one between Marcos Alonso and Jordi Alba will probably be kept as a secondary left back.
