Barcelona Plan Move For Highly rated Tottenham Star

The La Liga giants are preparing a move to snatch Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld from the North London side.

Barcelona is keen on landing a top centre-back in the summer and have identified Alderweireld as their prime defensive target. And the Catalonian outfit seems to know the contract issues between the club and player and is looking to take advantage of the situation.

Tottenham is unwilling to match Alderweireld’s high wage demands and the 29-year-old could be on the move away from England in the summer. Spurs are also eyeing a potential summer move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah to strengthen their back-line.

The Transfer Roster-

The 22-year-old has been sturdy for the Bundesliga side and has caught the eye of a few top European clubs. Tah has the qualities to be a great defender and is desperate to play for a club in the Champions League. With Tah priced in and around the £35 million mark, Tottenham will allow Alderweireld to leave the club to do business with German club Leverkusen.

And Barcelona is keen admirers of the former Atletico Madrid defender although La Blaugrana has given him an ultimatum to finalize his decision by the end of the season. The Belgian international must commit a deal with Barcelona by this summer or the deal could be off, according to “El Gol Digital”. But Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy will be a tough individual to negotiate with may hold out for a bigger offer for his prized defender.

Author’s Take-

Tottenham should not let go of Alderweireld, they are a club on the rise and should not sell their star players. However, if Spurs are unable to negotiate with Alderweireld’s wage demands they can sell him to Barcelona and purchase Tah from Bayer Leverkusen. Manager Mauricio Pochettino knows how to work with top quality defenders and could turn Tah into one of Europe’s best defenders.
