Barcelona is considering signing Yerry Mina in January after Javier Mascherano asked to leave the club.
Barcelona is expected to have negotiated the deal for around £9 Million. It is said that the Catalan Giants has negotiated a deal with the player’s club, a couple of years ago, which will allow them to sign the player in January. Earlier it was said that player would arrive at the start of the 2018-19 campaign, but an injury to Samuel Umtiti and Mascherano asking to leave the club will see Barcelona moving for the player earlier than it was expected.
According to reports, Barca has given club directors Pep Segura and Robert Fernandez a thumbs up, to finalize personal terms with the player. Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu had earlier said that a decision over signing Yerry Mina would be made by Ernesto Valverde, and now it seems that the coach has given the green light to sign the player.
Mina’s uncle, Jair Mina in an interview with RAC 1, said: ‘I was in Sao Paulo last week and spoke with the people of Palmeiras. I have also had contact with Barcelona. The truth is that, given the circumstances, we have decided to wait for everything to advance in the best possible way.’

‘We are going to have patience and hope that what is going to happen will happen at the lucky moment.’
‘We have talked and we will see how the situation at the club progress. Let’s wait. The kid is currently on holidays, working and waiting to see what happens. But he is more focused on Palmeiras than another team because he has contract at Palmeiras.’
Mina’s arrival will see Barcelona registering a second of three permitted players holding a non-EU passport, which means that the club will be free to sign Arthur from Gremio, who’ll surely benefit there midfield.
Barcelona is surely going to be benefited by this move. Yerry Mina is the guy, who can put an end to there defensive struggles. Mina has been really impressive during his time at Palmeiras, he was voted as the best defender of the Brazilian League. Not to mention his stamina and athleticism will work in his favor with tackles and cheeky one-on-ones.
Being 195cm tall, Yerry Mina’s aerial presence means a lot on the pitch and the player can help start attacks from behind. Despite being a defender, his goal-scoring abilities have gained a wide recognition as Mina has already scored 20 goals in his short professional career. The player would surely feel the heat to perform, once he arrives but this boy has all the potential to succeed at highest level.
